The SMARTIE Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education has been established to bring universities together for a shared goal of supporting responsible, ethical, and inclusive integration of AI in higher education. The alliance will serve as a collaborative network where higher education institutions can exchange knowledge, identify common priorities, and contribute to future development paths for AI-supported teaching, learning, assessment, and course development.
Through the alliance, SMARTIE aims to strengthen cooperation among higher education institutions and create a wider academic community that can support long-term action on AI in education. It also provides an opportunity for universities outside the SMARTIE consortium to engage with the project and work together on how AI can be embedded meaningfully in higher education.
ACEEU contributes to this milestone by supporting the development and expansion of the alliance through its expertise in university engagement and entrepreneurship, quality assurance, and international university networks. This role reflects ACEEU’s wider mission of helping higher education institutions respond to emerging societal and technological challenges in ways that create meaningful institutional and societal impact.
