ACEEU recently piloted the Campus Tycoon, an online interactive Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) awareness game designed to enhance understanding of ESG dimensions and bring sustainability decision-making in higher education to life.
The game was developed by ISQe as part of the SHIFT Project to raise awareness of the benefits and impacts of ESG strategies. It uses a simulated environment to assess how players approach ESG-related challenges. Through interactive scenarios, participants explore how decisions in operations, governance, and community engagement influence institutional impact.
To test the effectiveness of the Game, ACEEU invited a diverse group of participants, including students, researchers, university staff, and sustainability professionals, to take part in an online pilot. This format allowed participants to engage with the game at their own pace while reflecting on ESG challenges relevant to higher education institutions.
Participants noted that the game made complex ESG institutional processes more tangible and encouraged reflection on how strategic decisions shape sustainability outcomes.
Insights gathered during the pilot are being used to refine the game and ensure the game remains relevant, engaging, and useful for universities seeking new ways to strengthen ESG awareness and capacity.
